green grocer, the corner of grand and noble, has beautiful, large morel mushrooms today. they run $40/lb. i bought 1 morel, about the length of my thumb, but looking like a very fat tree, which will be enough to make a delicious omelet and it cost $2.
they also have large quart jars of lard from, i believe, faith farms. it cost $10.99. i have no idea if that's a good price...just thought i'd pass it on. justjoan

With shipping I probably pay $3/lb. or more for the raw stuff, and who knows how many pounds render into a quart? Probably somewhere between 1 and 2. So yeah, I'd say that's a pretty reasonable price to have it pre-rendered and ready to go.
