I'm headed to Schwa in a few hours. My guests and I are bringing a bottle of wine per person, but I was toying with the idea of bringing a bottle of beer as well (or in replacement of my bottle). Any suggestions or is this a bad idea? Should I just stick with wine.

Very excited to visit Schwa for the first time.

The best strategy here is to bring a variety (light, strong, bitter, smooth, crisp, dark)--a dinner at Schwa is usually "all over the map" in terms of flavor. Ask the chefs to help pick from your selection to pair with courses. It's not a bad idea to have a few extra for them to sample too.

    Enjoy dinner.

    Best,
    Michael

Bring beer, bring sake, bring sparkling wine, bring it all. When you get to the restaurant you'll hand all your bottles over to Michael or another cook; they'll keep them in the kitchen and do the pairings for you. We've had a great time taking some unusual beers to Schwa. And, yes, it's always a nice idea to bring something interesting as a gift to the kitchen.

Last time I brought them a couple 4-packs of my favorite Belgium ale, and everyone seemed very appreciative.

Enjoy yourselves, I can't say enough of Chef Carlson and his staff.
