Is the warm sticky toffee date cake available for a dessert? If it doesn't fit for the price point, any chance we could order it individually? If it's too much of a hassle, never mind. But thanks for asking.

I will make sure it's on the list! they're putting together a three course family style dinner--I thnk it was 4 app's, 4 entrees and 3 desserts. I'll have the list to post today.

If possible, could you ask if they can include the panko-crusted halibut as an entree?

Or if that's too expensive or not available, some other fish option for those of us who don't eat much meat or poultry?

Thanks for organizing this and I am really looking forward to returning to Prairie Fire.

They have the fish and chips on the proposed family style menu--is the halibut a lunch entree? I'm having trouble accessing their website right now for some reason.

I'm pretty sure it's brioche-encrusted and it is delicious.

    Here's a shot of it that I took a few weeks back . . .

I don't think it's still being served with morels but I don't know what the current configuration is. It tends to vary with what's available.

I've the halibut special there twice, not sure if the first time it was brioche-encrusted but on my most recent visit it was panko-encrusted and delicious.

I actually just called to ask and that was the current preparation this evening (comes with pea puree and mushrooms). Maybe there is a different halibut that I'm missing which is on the regular menu?

Hmmm...but Phil Vettel's review suggests otherwise? Oh well, it's great regardless.

I'd like to have at least one dish be a "special" that's a bit more seasonal so this sounds great to me. I'll see what they say. The fish and chips didn't excite me to be honest so maybe we cann do this instead. Just not sure if it's something they'll do at lunch. Will find out more tomorrow.

    thanks for the input!!!

    HI

I may not be able to do this, if it's family style. EVERY ONE of their entrees, even the ones that do not mention it, have mushrooms in them - if not as a major ingredient, then as stock or braising liquid. (this per their manager on duty) We were there the other night, and the food was great, but it was a minefield of a menu for me :( Even the NY Strip, which mentions nothing about any sauces, came swimming in mushroom gravy.

(I can not digest mushrooms, and while small amounts of plain button mushrooms, and a few other species are OK, it's a bit risky for me to try to hazard which species they toss into which stock)

If anyone else can't make it, please let me know since we're ordering family style and it will affect the amount of food we order.

I hope she meant Thursday, I've got a trial tomorrow.

Additionally, I think you should be okay Leek, we are ordering family style & I don't eat any animals so if they can manage for me, I'm confident Prairie Fire can manage for you.

Llama--I just checked with the restaurant and our table can easily accommodate another diner so please join us.

Pea Shoot Tendrils Romaine Lettuce, Crispy Shallots, Apples, Goat Cheese, Sherry Vinaigrette ................................................ 7.5

    Mains:
Nueske’s Bacon, Spring Onion & Goat Cheese Pizza .........................................................................................................10
Ancho Marinated Skirt Steak over White Beans & Rainbow Swiss Chard, Grilled Onion………………………………………….. 23
Crepe of Balsamic Glazed “River Valley Ranch” Portobello's & Gruyere Cheese, Petite Mixed Green Salad .................................... 9.5
Halibut TBD (requested--don't know yet if they will do it and, if so, what preparation we'll receive)
    Side of Greek Fries

    Dessert
    TBD

The lentils will be prepared with veg stock instead of beef. I've requested that they let us know which items are veg and to identify any that have mushrooms.

Please let me know if there's anything else I've missed.

    thanks!

    Thanks Khaopaat!!

Slight update to the menu (the ham panini was removed from the menu yesterday so we're substituting the Nueske bacon and goat cheese pizza). We're also awaiting final confirmation from the chef on the halibut--they're trying to fit it into our budget (told them we didn't want to spend more than $30/pp.)

Will update if there's another change and when I get confirmation on the Veg-only and mushroom free items :P

    UPDATED according to boudreaulicious:

Please bring cash. Lunch is $30 pp, which includes tax and 15% (ish) gratuity. Since they are including the halibut, they are pushing the limit of $30, so the gratuity may be compromised a little, so please feel free to supplement the gratuity as you see fit.

Drinks will also be on a "cash" bar basis, they will collect payment as they are served.

So "CASH" is the welcoming theme here.

Look forward to seeing everyone at noon!

I am so sorry I had to leave "early" but it was an absolutely terrific lunch. I can't imagine $35 spent any better anywhere for more food of a higher quality. Just exceptional. And, of course, the company matched the food. An excellent lunch. Thanks so much for all the hard work in arranging the myriad details. A grand sucess by any measure!
