This was probably linked before in another thread I'm not finding right now, but is such a delightful pick-me-up I can't repress it:

I'll "see" your Sandra Lee Video and then "raise" you with this one:

Ya know, I don't have time to watch television (well, except for Sons of Anarchy - gotta have the weekly fix) but I am laughing so dang hard after viewing these YouTube clips of Sandra Lee that I plan to MAKE time to catch this show sometime. I laughed so hard I nearly peed (sorry censors). I haven't seen anything quite so comically ridiculous since early Monty Python and the great Benny Hill as a tween growing up in Glendale Heights.

What makes it even more hilarious is she obviously takes herself - and her culinary skillset - so seriously!

I wish YouTube wasn't blocked at work...I'll have to queue these up as soon as I get home.

The part that makes me most sad about Sandra Lee is that, if she watches these YouTube clips, it's likely from the back seat of her Bentley while being driven to the bank to deposit a giant canvas dollar sign bag overflowing with Benjamins. There is no justice in this world :|

That mushroom rant was hilarious! Sadly, cito, yours did not work because of a malformed video ID.

I'm sorry for living in this thread for the past day (I needed some laughs). I know it's ground we've covered before, and want to credit tem for first posting this video now that I've found the original citation. I actually owe Sandra something for the entertainment. I have decided I am making the Kwanzaa cake for our holiday party this year. Clearly I should offer some kind of incentive to get people to try it - but what?

Hehe. The SL 'seizure' youtube link provided upthread is hilarious. Oh, the perils of over-enunciating slowly. It gets better and better like a mini-opera: parsley - mushroom - expresso. Thanks for sharing :)

Ewwww...what does this have to do with Kwanzaa, anyway? And did she bother to put it on a plate before dumping a can of pie filling in the center?

OK, blipping past Food Network today on the off chance something was on, I saw Sandra Lee blithely touting the benefits of mincing your own garlic ahead of time and keeping it in a jar in canola oil: she was working with a jelly-jar full. I kid you not. Now, I can't exactly blame Sandra Lee for this - after all, she's really just the face of this show - but, Food Network - really? Isn't there a trained person (at least someone with a sanitation certificate) vetting this stuff?

Food Network has a live chat agent - I sent them the link to the CDC botulism page. I wonder if I needed to highlight the part about garlic in oil. Or maybe do that thing where you highlight it and it flashes and crawls across the page.

But no, Pie Lady - didn't you hear her? She uses Butter Buds instead of butter (unless it really matters, like on toast or a baked potato) and Eggbeaters instead of eggs (did you know they were just eggwhites and food coloring? I didn't but I'm not shocked) Her recipes are healthy. :|

This is via Zwecker, so take it for what it's worth, but he had this to report earlier this week:

FUTURE FIRST LADY? While I hear Martha Stewart is laughing off Food Network mainstay Sandra Lee's claims she will soon replace Stewart as America's domestic diva, political pals in New York say Lee has much higher aspirations.

It's thought the ''Semi-Homemade'' star is heavily focused on eventually marrying New York attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo, becoming the Empire State's first lady (if, as expected, he's elected) and then snaring that title on the national stage if (as Lee believes) Cuomo eventually becomes president.

The NY Times has a bit about this today also:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/05/nyreg ... ty.html?hp

I liked this part, on the author finally getting a chance to talk to Sandra Lee at a promotional event:

Finally, someone took me aside and informed me, in grave tones, that I could speak with Ms. Lee provided I promise to stick to healthy hearts, hunger awareness and tuna fish. With Michelle Obama promoting her organic garden, while Ms. Lee is promoting a flavored tuna that lists sugar as its third ingredient, the topics didn’t seem too far off point.

I was at Prairie Fire for lunch today (which was lovely) and on my way out the door, literally did a double take when I saw what was on the two TV screens over the bar. On the left screen, Julia Child's show. On the right, Sandra Lee. Could there be two more polar opposites in terms of television culinary talent? That they were both showing side by side...shudder.

LOL! They probably had Cooking Channel on one screen and Food Network on the other.

I admit that I am absolutely transfixed by Sandra Lee. I was recently laid up for about a month and watched her show(s?) fairly often during that time. I can't say anything ever looked the least bit appetizing but the show itself was highly entertaining; a real culinary spectacle.
