    What time do we gather?
"To get long" meant to make do, to make well of whatever we had; it was about having a long view, which was endurance, and a long heart, which was hope.

Thanks for the address, Laura. This'll be so much fun. Still no idea what I'm making. It's so bloody cold in the office today that I feel like making some spicy gingerbread - brrrr.

If all goes well, I'm making a small batch of Hazelsmut Cookies. Either way I'm changing my original plan to Evil Rice Pudding.

will you be bringing small containers so we can take some home? i dont want to discourage you from making this, it sounds intriguing, but maybe everyone should bring their own small containers for this. i think i've rounded up almost enough deli containers for my panna cotta, but neither dessert will do well in a large container, mingling with other desserts, IMO. so if people have some small containers, i'd suggest we all bring some. thanks, joan

No worries, I'm heading to the dollar store sometime this week to pick up those disposable foil "ramekins" and hopefully lids (if not, Reynold's will have to do).

Just came back from Dollar House Plus - they have a great deal on foil containers that you crimp down over flat lids. The containers (I'm guessing 8oz?) are 5 for $1 and the lids are 10 cents apiece. Booya!

i'm afraid my friend nancie has to cancel. she feels bad knowing there is someone on the wait list and it's probably too late for them to whip up a dessert and come, and she sends her apologies to everyone. ( i'll be there), joan

LauraS - I just realized that in my haste to rush out I forgot my tupperware. If I can borrow some of yours I'll return it to you at the next exchange...or if you have ziploc bags/foil etc I'd appreciate it.

But I did remember the wine!

    Laura,

You & Kevin were fantastic hosts. I loved being able to eat at a big table with all of the food, cheese, & sweets served like a big Thanksgiving family dinner.

This exchange is fantastic for anyone with a love of desserts. By love of desserts I mean you ask for the dessert menu first at a restaurant & frequently go with a salad as main course in anticipation of the calorie overload you are going to choose for the last course.

    Thanks again.

Bonus!! My scale indicates a smaller number the day after the dessert exchange (I'm talking pounds not ounces, folks)

Many, many thanks to Laura and Kevin for making us feel so at home last night. This was my first LTH event and I had a such a good time. No, not just because copious amounts of sugar were involved. LTHers are a fun bunch of people! I really enjoyed meeting you all and am looking forward to seeing everyone again, and maybe some new faces, in August. I'll put up a post about the August exchange later this week. (p.s. Hi Riley and Perrin - thanks for letting us invade your kingdom.)

First you have to upload them to an account like Flickr. Then you get the URL for each photo, hit the Img button above and plug in that url, then the photo should show up. There's a much more detailed entry on the board somewhere but I can't remember where it is.
