A last-minute change in plans has me looking for a place to take a few students for celebratory snacks/apps and drinks this Friday at 3pm in Evanston. Tapas Barcelona closes at 2:30 until dinner. The Cellar doesn't open until 5. I can't tell from Prairie Moon's web site if they're open between lunch and dinner, so I'll have to call them. Any other ideas? There will be five of us and everyone will be of age for drinking. Near downtown Evanston is ideal.

    Thanks in advance--
    Sharon

Prairie Moon, Nevin's, Celtic Knot, Bat17 ... so many options ... even Bluestone on Central ...

    I'll add Lulu's.

I'd second Celtic Knot. Can't quite recall what is officially on the menu there for appetizers, but I was there for an election night party in February, and they had the absolutely best spread of food I have ever had at an election party, or even at many a private entertainment. Stuffed mushrooms, really really good Stilton (anybody know exactly what cheese it is, I keep meaning to ask because I like it so much, and never remember (too much beer?), many other things that I am not recalling and don't know if they are formally on the menu. (Sadly the candidate lost, but we drowned and munched away our sorrows with some really good food and beer.)

I also like Prairie Moon. Hard to go wrong either place, I think.

Thank you for the suggestions. I was initially leaning toward Bat 17, which seemed interesting to me because I haven't been, but the appetizer list is a little short for our purposes. I like the space of the Celtic Knot but not the food. I haven't been to Nevin's in ages, so I'm leaning toward that at the moment.

    Thanks again--

Nevins is pretty generic bar food but not bad. It's a good middle-of-the-road option (something for everyone).

    Yeah, that's what I figured.

Why not a pub crawl? Try them all!
