In case anyone's interested, the deal of the day on sellout.woot.com is a refurbished Cuisinart ICE-50 for $139.

This is the model with the built-in compressor, right? If so, I don't think the freezing compartment is removable, making cleaning it nearly impossible. We bought my dad a similar Italian-made gelato maker a few years ago, and it was used twice. Ouch.

The mixing bowl is removable, so as long as I don't overfill it I should be OK. I'll know for sure when it arrives, I've wanted a compressor model for a while so I couldn't resist!

I have one - it's not tough to clean, but the arm on top can be a be a bit difficult to keep in place.

I don't have a problem with the arm, but I did throw out the round plastic thing that was supposed to cover the bowl while the ice cream churned. I could just never get it to fit right, and it prevented the mixing apparatus from reaching the bottom of the bowl. I've made ice cream about 50 times now without the cover, and learned that it was simply a useless, unnecessary piece of plastic.
