Need recommendations

Hi all. I need some recommendations for dinner on Monday and Tuesday next week (5th & 6th).
We would like to have a not-to-expensive, adults only, dinner not too far from O'Hare on Monday, and a kid-friendly dinner (I have 1 really picky eater. ), after we attend the Museum of Science and Industry on Tuesday. Tuesday can be further out, along I-55 from Chicago to Bloomington, as we will be heading home. My relatives were hoping to try Frontera Grill, but they will be closed during our visit, and Burt's is out, for similar reasons.
With the exception of my son, there aren't any serious food restrictions.
Any ideas?

Options near the Museum of Science and Industry are a little tough. The closest places (among those discussed often here on the LTH Forum) that I have marked on my own map are Barbara Ann's (BBQ) and Lagniappe (creole, cajun), neither of which might appeal to The Picky One. But also fairly close are some very good pizza options: Candlelite (7200 S Western Ave), Vito & Nick's (8433 S Pulaski Rd), and also Top-Notch Burgers (2116 W 95th St) and right by that, The Original Rainbow Cone (9233 S. Western) for dessert.

Along/near I-55 on your way home are Nick's Tavern in Lemont (221 Main Street) for burgers, and Pappadeux Seafood Kitchen in Westmont (921 Pasquinelli Dr), to name a few. Ah, and there's the famous chicken place in Lemont too, which I ought to have on my map but don't ... I found it: White Fence Farm. Looks to me to be very kid friendly. Petting zoo and all.

What was the other question? Right, dinner near O'Hare. Options there are more plentiful; perhaps others will jump in; I'll check my map. This link might be helpful too.Targeted at places one might go to during a -6-hr-or-so layover at O'Hare, it does mention several good nearby dining options.

I didn't check on any of the above being open or not on Monday the 5th; given the holiday, you'd better check first. I didn't post the phone #s, but searching the names here on LTH will take you to threads for each with addresses and phone numbers.

Some good suggestions, but note that Candlelite is at 7452 NORTH Western Avenue, nowhere near the MSI.

Relatively near O'Hare are: Smak-Tak, Elephant Thai, and Smoque BBQ

Relatively near the MSI are: Uncle Johns, Barbara Ann's (I don't think either have a dining area) and That's A Burger.

Hi- I do not think that a Mediterranean restaurant such as Cedars would be appropriate for a picky child. I think pizza would be way more appropriate. I know that there are lots of good pizza places in Hyde Park. Hope this helps, Nancy

Wow, thanks so much. I think we are leaning toward White Fence Farm for dinner on Tuesday. They have chicken strips! And it's on the way home.

If I had my way, I'd probably try for Takashi. Not exactly near the airport, but it's near enough to the blue line. So maybe something that's near a blue line station could get thrown in, for Monday.

Does the Monday night place have to be near a Blue Line stop? Sol de Mexico would provide Frontera-quality food, and it is open on Mondays. It is northwest, but not near a Blue Line stop.

Tuesday: if you want a picky-kid friendly place in Hyde Park, Dave's suggestion of the Medici is probably the best. Kind of boring for the rest of you, though...

Maybe you could say more about what your son will or won't eat? A fantastic place close to I-55 on your way out is Xni-Pec in Brookfield. They are extremely accommodating to kids and will make something off-menu, like plain soft tacos of non-spicy beef -- would something like that work? There is plain rice as a side dish and likewise black beans, which a friend's young daughter made a meal of on one visit.

Also out that way not far from I-55 is Chuck's Southern Comforts Cafe, with a wide range of things on the menu that might suit both your son and the rest of the party.
