A consistent empty house due to a lack of customers seeking out sub-par tapas? I keed, I keed. (Kind of. I always thought that location was at the absolute bottom of the Chicago tapas barrel.)

Anyone know about a BBQ place opening on Hubbard just east of LaSalle? Signs up in window but quite non-specific.

Our office is right around the corner and we're hoping for something delish (though we are so lucky locationwise in terms of eats.)

I believe the information you seek is here. Not much info yet, except opening is expected in early '11.

The rarely open Mario & Gino's has "re-opened" in Roscoe Village. They seem to have added lots of burgers to the menu. Have not stopped in yet---waiting for a brave soul to take the first bite.

Not sure if this place warrants it's own thread so I'm putting this here. I took one for the team. Got excited when I walked in as there are about twelve different burgers, and five different paninis. Was hoping it was going to be decent because of the lack of walkable fast(er) food restaurants in my neighborhood. 1/3lb before cooking burger cooked until every bit of moisture was out of it and it looked like a hockey puck. Nice bun that dwarfed said hockey puck. Those orange Arby's style curly fries.

The worst part isn't the $6 I spent but how much I spend on dinner just went up exponentially to make up for lunch. If they could work out the execution and get some decent fries there might be potential as this neighborhood needs something fast and good. Until then I guess it's back to Tony's for quick meals.

The news has been making the rounds that La Tache in Andersonville/Edgewater will be changing over to Vincent, which will serve New American cuisine with an "Amsterdam twist" courtesy Joncarl Lachman of HB Home Bistro.

In other Andersonville news (of sorts), Table (5022 Clark St.), David Carrier's follow-up to Kith & Kin, looks to have slipped a bit from their planned March opening--the windows were still papered up when I walked by this afternoon.

Passed by new shopping center on the east side of Milwaukee, just south of Lake, in Glenview with:
Moon Wok - Stir Fry Asian Bistro; Bini's Bakery; Red Mango among the prospective tenants. I don't think any are open yet.

Bini's and Red Mango turned up on a Google search, Moon Wok did not.

There's an intriguing new awning up in the space next to Lito's Empanadas on Clark. It's for a new restaurant called "Del Seoul", which advertises itself as "Korean Street BBQ". Could be interesting.

A BBQ Chicken just opened across the street from Mitsuwa, there was a menu stuck to my windshield there. They claim to be a worldwide phenomenon with 3500 locations. If you think you know what they mean by BBQ chicken, you would be mistaken. Best of the Best Quality chicken, is not barbecued, but fried in extra virgin olive oil. Not sure why that is a good thing. The funniest thing though is their Col-Pop Chicken, which is a half cup of Coca cola with an insert on the top filled with popcorn chicken. The straw appears to go through the chicken, or to the side of it.
I tried to stop in, but it is in a hidden location behind the B of A building, and I lost interest.
