Last night we went to the Turf Room. While the table right next to the outdoor fire place was generously offered :), we opted to eat inside. The dining areas are really extensive, and there's another bar in the back. Who knew?

Anyway, the food was delicious. We started with an amuse bouche (!) of roasted tomato and chile risotto cake with brussel sprout slaw on top. It was served with a tiny dollop of bleu cheese cream. The chile was quite piquant, but the cream cooled it down. Really good.

Two of us had the stuffed chicken. It was stuffed with preserved lemon, spinach, asparagus, swiss cheese, and then had some browned goat cheese on top. The chicken came with a pesto cream sauce. The chicken was moist, and the sauce was really good. The preserved lemon was just the right accent to provide balance for the other rich ingredients. It came with some rice pilaf, which sopped up the cream sauce very nicely.

Another had the sea bass salad, which was huge, and had lots of green beans, and lovely greens. The person who ate it said the sea bass was perfectly cooked. It was all gone.

All in all, a really good dinner. We had the $4 glass(es) of wine -- it was a non-offensive California chardonnay that was good with the food.

They take the food and wine very seriously. I think they use Reidel glasses (inside only).

Outside dining is really nice, too, especially when there's a crisp bite to the air in the fall. Then the outdoor fireplaces will be quite welcome....

The Turf Room is located in an area that is near the intersection of Randall Road and Orchard Road, but you have to enter the area either through the light just south of Orchard on Randall (Ritter) or just west of Randall on Orchard (Comiskey). There are tiny signs that indicate an OTB. Plus the Turf Room is brick, and has a sign that kind of fades into the facade.
