Lemontree Grocer is having its Grand Opening this Friday 8/20 @ 3:00 p.m. in Downers Grove.

Kind of interested in checking it out at some point. From a radio add I heard and their website they are touting: Groceries & produce(focusing on local), wine bar, cafe, a couple local beers on tap, seafood, local meat, etc.

I do most of my grocery shopping(non meat & seafood) nowdays @ the Ultra Foods in DG, an option for local meat, etc., might be a nice option for times when I dont have the time to go to the farm, or my other sources. If Lemontree is affordable, I could see adding them to my shopping stops. Also it would be nice to have an alternative to Whole Foods for specialty items when needed.

I have to say I never thought I'd live long enough to see the phrase "located in trendy downtown Downer's Grove" used in marketing.

really small is the only way I can describe this place.

Visited tonight after work, and was shocked at how small it is. Maybe the size of (2) 7-11's. I figured it would be expensive and it was. Mostly prepared foods, a small produce section, and a small expensive meat and seafood counter. No ethnic items, etc. I knew it wasnt going to be a full service supermarket, I guess if you rarely or never cook and are live in one of the condo's that have sprung up around there it would work.

Quickly got out of there and headed to Ultra Foods who had all i needed for my weekend menus.
