Have you been to La Rosita? Better than La Pasadita, IMO.

josh, i've been to two or three different la rositas. good for what they are, but i want decent carne asada grilled over open flame, not fried on a flat sheet metal grill. know what i mean?

Fair enough. I don't usually get carne asada at La Rosita so that would explain it.

We cannot be friends if you do not know the difference between Mayo and Miracle Whip.

Is that the place next to a small mexican market (shares a wall & doorway between)
If so, no way is the Steak better than La Pasadita. I was there about three weeks ago
I had driven by the La Pasadita site to check on progress (nada) and then headed east and had a few carne asada tacos and they were meh if that....

Yes, and like I said, I don't go there for the steak. The other tacos (chicharones, chorizo/egg) I think are excellent.

I spoke to a permit official in Palatine today and she
said that they started to apply for a permit but
    did not complete the process.
It does not look like La Pasadita is coming to Palatine

I talked to their would be neighbor and he had a slightly different story that
I could not post here due to the nature of the story....

I hit LP Express on Elston for average steak tacos the other night. There was no flame taste or carbonization evidencing a flame of any sort. I was in my car and driving when i noticed this calamity. Anyone know if they just flattop cook them at the Elston location.

One more thing - the meat had a funky odor to it. The same odor that deli meat gets when it has been in your fridge for a few days. I don't like that smell. I'm not sure I can bring myself to go back to that location.

they grill at elston, but it's possible the meat had been in the bucket too long.

unless they changed things from a month or so back, the meat is flame cooked like the pasaditas on ashland. i haven't had it since then so its possible quality or method has changed. i'd give them another try at lunch or early evening.
