Looking for suggestions for a birthday dinner for my mother-in-law who is turning 65. I am thinking just a notch below Trotter's or Alinea (money is not a huge issue--I am not paying!!). City is preferable. Looking for a memorable location and meal for 6-8 adults. There are some dietary restrictions in the group, so we also need some place that can be flexible (low sodium for one eater, no dairy for a couple of diners). Thanks!

North Pond might be a nice place to consider. The location is memorable, the food is excellent, and I'm sure they could accommodate your group's needs.

We just celebrated my mother's 60th at MK. Delicious food and they were extremely accomodating, offering to switch out sauces or proteins from one dish to another - say, putting the sauce from the beef dish with the protein and accompaniments from the venison (I'm making up those examples but you get the point).

Thanks for the suggestions. We've done MK before for family birthday dinners and always loved it. Haven't been for awhile, though. North Pond is a great suggestion. Used to live a few hundred yards from there at Wrightwood and Lake View.
