    Hi all!
I am in the process off moving to the West Loop in Chicago. I like my new condo except for the kitchen but since I got a good price, I figured I can fix it up to the way I wanted. I've been looking online for ideas/inspiration and I thought it would be fun to show off our kitchens. I'll post picks off mine as soon as I move in (this week).
    Thanks in advance........

Here's Mine. It's large, prolly take a while to load to start it off. Click on it, then do other things until it loads up.

edit - just did a test on loading it on the newer laptop. Took around 13 minutes. Ymmv - I have dsl. Cable is prolly quicker.

    Khaopaat, I heart you.

I have a pix of my new kitchen, reflecting our project to paint the cabinets and replace the handles to update the look (in addition to painting the walls and backsplash). But I am too inept to get it from my desktop to this posting. Guidance?

Correct - we just built the place about a year ago. You called us out...we eat out too frequently. At least we use the sink for something:

Sorry dude, your kitchen is really pretty, but it's not quite to that level. You should be happy -- it means you can actually use it without feeling guilty about ruining better homes and garden's 15th shoot.

milz50 what is that big black thing on the shelf over the stove? I like the pool table. Must be handy to have the kitchen so close to the pool table. Or maybe the pool table is one of those fancy dinner tables that they had on the Beverly Hillbillies!

We finished ours last year. We gutted the icky 90's remodel I acquired when we bought the house, took down a wall between the original kitchen and a bedroom, closed off one doorway and completely changed how the room functioned. The cabinets are locally sourced black walnut (as is a piece of flooring), lights are all LED except for two antique pendant lights, and the counters/sink are soapstone. All the tiles are recycled material.

I suppose we could have done a better job of clearing the clutter but, hey, who has time?

Note the tilt-y knife handles along the back of the counter. We had the counter person cut long parallel slits for our knives.

?? I'm not sure what you are referring to? The range hood and cabinets are above the oven.

That's decorative open cabinetry used to conceal the hood. It looks like it either does not vent or has a an unusual rear rectangular venting system, that is the Wolf 54" unit, right?

It looks like you have slits directly in the soapstone countertop. Do you get water and/or creeping crud in the knife slits? Does this damage your knives (gotta assume it doesn't, but not sure why it doesn't)?

Your kitchen is gorgeous. I love the effect of the sink and counter together.

It's a 48" Wolf. The hood vents into the wall behind it.

Thank you, that's very kind. I love the soapstone. I do have to oil it occasionally to keep it dark but don't find that is a big deal.

The slits are cut directly into the back of the counter. Two are on the left of the sink and two are on the right. We do occasionally get water in the right one but not much. Nothing underneath gets icky because they're essentially over empty space. The undercounter cabinet is a corner one with a lazy susan that just misses the corner with the knives.

We do have to be careful about removing them but neither of us drags the blade against the stone. The slits aren't tight against the blades.

The kitchen is fairly compact so we were looking for space saving ideas. I didn't have a dishwasher before the remodeling and we gained space for one under the counter to the left of the sink. You can't see it in these photos.

Bravo. If they made full-size appliances in ABS, I'd be all over them (in fact, I wonder if I have enough white bricks to build a housing for my new stove...). Stainless, schmainless.
