anyone know anything about this restaurant? for a new(ish) place with no wide reputation and a name that does not, itself, cry out "fine dining," "gourmet," or "eclectic," (adjectives that often accompany relatively high prices) i'm wondering if their food justifies their prices.

I was there 5 years ago or so, when it was still fairly new ... an interesting environment - they've done a good job at keeping the firehouse feel. As I recall, the food was pretty straight-ahead American, executed well, but I thought it was a bit pricey. I think it's work a trip, and it should be lauded for being one of the earlier places to pioneer this stretch of S. Michigan.

The Chicago Firehouse restaurant is reopening in the South Loop on Friday, more than two years after a fire shut it down.
