Definitely on the list. I'll rank it somewhere between "Browntrout" and "ñ".

It seems Top Notch Beefburgers WEST has closed. After attempting to call in an order, parents went by to check it out--after 22 years, it has ended. They then drove over to the "original" in Beverly to satisfy the urge.

I've seen the signs all summer and noticed renovations underway yesterday. Today I stopped and spoke to the man working inside, who turns out to be the manager, and he's the source for the opening date. I can't wait to try that key lime concrete that was the best thing Mikey has eaten lately.![]()
He gave me a coupon for a free sundae. I see one in Oak Lawn is "coming soon."

The one in Evanston is turning out some pretty good frozen custard. For my money, it's the best version in the area (yes, that includes Scooter's).

Also, the space formerly occupied by Bennigan's in Lake Zurich on Rand Rd. now has a sign that says "Beelow's Steakhouse Opening Soon"...the font and overall style of the sign looked like a cartoon-y kids version of a steakhouse....this does not fill me with hope.

I didn't schlep all the way up to Evanston, but tried the Andy's in Bolingbrook on Sunday, really nice, and they have Sprecher rootbeer.
