Webers Bakery has been mentioned as part of other threads, but I had actually never had any of their stuff until this morning. A gracious co-worker brought some pastry and donuts to us.

Everything she brought including cake donuts with chocolate frosting and a few torte style cakes was great.

The highlight though was the carrot cake. Super thick sweet cream cheese frosting with a very moist dense carrot cake. Some might find too dense for their liking, but man a great gut bomb of goodness.

I have no doubt that you think Webers has a good Carrot Cake, but the one made by my Mrs...(PB&Fluff), sure takes the cake, if you pardon my pun....Carrots, pineapple, coconut, nuts, and a double batch of cream cheese frosting, and of course, no raisins....A Cholesterol special....

Just went to Weber's Bakery for the first time today after having seen it cited on Chicago Citysearch as the area's #1 bakery. Tried the kolacky which have a sour cream-based dough that is very buttery. Highlight was the cheese danish. Had plain cheese danish as well as cheese danish with chocolate bits and both were phenomenal. This is a place where the danish itself still tastes great even once you've eaten all the filling. Also bought some hoska (?) -- which appears to be like a challah studded with golden raisins, as well as some of their sauerkraut rye bread - both were excellent. Definitely worth a detour off I-55 for this place.

Yesterday there was a b-day party at work and the cake was from Weber's Bakery. I had never heard of this place and I see it has gotten some attention here on LTH. But no mention of this cake. This was no ordinary cake-it was their banana split cake (AKA Atomic Cake). OMG! I am not a fan of cake-especially bakery cakes. But this was something more than amazing. It is featured on their website under house specialties. It has chocolate and vanilla cake layers with fresh bananas, whipped cream and strawberries. Each layer is distinct. The bananas and strawberries are fresh and firm, and the whip cream tastes really good. It does not sound that special but the ingredients and the ratio of ingredients is sublime. I want one of these for my b-day!

Apparently you can get one free at Brown's Chicken if you buy $50 worth of chicken.
