took family to Wisconsin. stopped at the prime outlet mall in Pleasant Praire. kids wanted pizza. Sbarro pizza we have had it many times, this was going to be easy. kids were thirsty. They wouldn't give me water. They said we can't do that you have to buy bottled water.  2 problems 3.50 for water? and great for the environment. how many plastic bottles do we need out there? I remember when a kid could get a cup of water because he was thirsty and it did not cost ANYTHING

the pizza wasn't very good either

please don't support sbarro pizza. I don"t think we really need their products

Sbarro or not, I've experienced this exact same thing at beloved Katy's and it was highly annoying. Tap water should always be available -- gratis -- at an eatery.

As for Sbarro, I've been avoiding it for years and it has nothing to do with their water policy.

We don't need Sbarro pizza and not simply because you are ticked off they wouldn't give your kids water. Oh, wait, its because of Sbarro's lack of respect for the environment you are annoyed, sorry, forgot.

Aside from your encounter with nasty-ass Sbarro did you have any positive experiences in Wisconsin you care to post about. A good meal, cool market, interesting farm/cheese/beer/sausage?

They have free water fountains in the mall, which would be so much more respectful to the environment then each kid getting a cup for water...

LMAO! Maybe the kids could all share one cup. Hell, maybe all the Sbarro customers on a given day could all share the one cup.

I stopped at a Sbarro in the Philly airport and had a cold eggplant and tomato salad that was excellent- this was a few years ago, and I would always poke my head in at different Sbarro's, and none of them ever had it. And that is my Sbarro story.

    Hi,

I always ask for, "Lake Michigan on ice." I do this to avoid buying bottled water. I never saw the need to ever buy what I conveniently get from the tap. I once got a hostile reception from a waitress for not desiring bottled water. She seemed to think I was sucking up poison by drinking the local water.

I can't imagine choosing Sbarro over a taco or guisado from El Milagro when at that mall, but to each their own, I guess.

Choosing Sbarro (or Pizza Hut) or Dominos in any town with a pizza tradition is troubling. But I do hit a Sbarro every now and then in an airport.

When working at the Thompson Center for 20 years, Sbarro was always good in a pinch. I'd ask them to reheat the pizza in the oven for me and it was decent. Wwhile I did have to pay 25 cents for a cup of water, I just assumed that it was cost of doing business downtown.

I have to admit that I have had (dare I say it) excellent pizzas from Sbarro and also some of the worst pizzas from them. As a chain, they are unbelieveably inconsistent. Back in the 80's-early 90's my mom would sometimes bring home a whole pizza from Sbarro Northbrook Court and it was usually great - especially fresh out of the oven. On the flipside I remember having Sbarro at other malls and airports where it was horrible.

Yeah, when I used to work downtown, often found myself at Thompson Center location.....there certainly are far worse pizza chains, and it did satisfy on many occasions......meatballs not bad either......

Again, would not seek it out...but in a pinch in a sea of franchises, not a horrible choice at all....

When I had an office in Lombard I used eat lunch at the Sbarro's in Yorktown. It was utility grade Italian fast food, but I never thought it was horrible. But not being able to get a glass of tap water is a kick in the ass, I wouldn't go back either if that happened to me.

I work 2 blocks from the Thompson Center and Sbarro is about the only place around here you can grab a quick slice at lunch. As mentioned it's not great but it'll do in a pinch.
