I've been teacing at Loyola (Rogers Park campus) for a year now, and have had a fun time exploring the area food-wise. "Loyola" searches on the forum are pretty outdated, however. So I wanted to open up the topic for an update, especially since the area seems to be in rapid transition. I'm thinking a two-mile radius is appropriate. Highlights so far include (note the high proportion of GNRs):

    Gareeb Nawaz
    La Unica
    Sahara Kabob
    Gaztrowagon (Lambwich, yum)
Bureks at the Euromarket on Granville (not the best in the city, but good for a quick lunch)
    Royal Cafe (Ethiopian daily specials)
    Khans BBQ
    Huraches Dona Chino (esp. huitalcoche)
Carmen's lunch buffet (I know I'm going to get slammed here, but until someone can point me to a better nearby pizza, I'm sticking with all-you-can eat for $5.95)
Metropolis (for great soups and Hoosier Mama pie by the slice)
Bale for banh mi (although I haven't been sinced they moved to the new spot)

    Possibilities:
new brunch-y place on Granville by the M. Henry folks
    Maxwell Street Polish on Broadway

    Not such a fan:
Uncommon Grounds -- great sweet potato fries, but mediocre otherwise
Argo Georgian Bakery (I want to like this place for lots of reasons, but so far I've found it bland)

    Any suggestions and/or feedback welcomed.

    Thanks.

    m. henrietta's distinction from it's sibling is that it will also be serving dinner (not just a brunch restaurant).

I'm a fan of Morseland, on Morse, just west of Sheridan. They have better than average bar food. The sweet and hot fries are a particular favorite.
