Tonight the wife and I are looking to divulge in some homemade, authentic Puerto Rican food. The wife is Puerto Rican so I'm looking for that grandma cooking in the back kinda place. Our favorite place was Borincuba but since they have closed, we haven't ventured out much for Puerto Rican, we just cook it at home.

Now i have done some research but i'm wondering what everyone here things of my options.

Option 1: Cafe Central on chicago Ave
Option 2: La Palma on Homan Ave
Option 3: La Cocina Boricua de la Familia Galarza on Fullerton Ave
Possible Option: La Plena on Division St

If i missed a place that I should consider please post it here. Does anyone have experience with the places i mentioned?

    Thanks!

Cafe Central is a long time favorite. La Palma is a little rougher around the edges, all steam table and heat lamp, no waitress service, but a solid choice. Borinquen on California, though known for jibarito, has a full range of Puerto Rican offerings.

I have been to Cafe Central numberous times and have enjoyed the food for the most part. Howver, I still have not been to the smattering of Puertorirquño places along the W. Division corridor. Is there a specific favorite among LTHers in heart of the Puerto Rican hood?
