We, along with 2 golden retrievers (about 6 years old), had a wonderful experience at Coast Café in Bolinas. The pups were welcomed to join us at our table in the sidewalk patio, and they were actually better served than we were. Before we were served our water, they were served a fresh water bowl to share. And before we were able to put our drink orders in, the pups were served a bite of hamburger treats (after they checked if it was acceptable). It was so wonderful to be able to share a leisurely meal with our pups, and I think they enjoyed it tremendously, too. They are such slut puppies for admirations and pettings by passer-bys.

In case you are not aware, Bolinas is VERY VERY dog friendly. They are allowed to roam with a leash, and welcomed most anywhere. We found the neighborhood dogs hanging out leashless, some with their owners and some without. All the pups were free to play on the beach without their leads as well, having a blast in the bracing cold water. (Signs do indicate leash is required, but no one seems to care.) Bolinas has always been known to live by their rules, such as removing signs off Highway 1 that points into their town.

I had a dozen of grilled Pacific Coast oysters from Drakes Bay with garlic butter and garlic bread. These were bigger ones which are necessary for grilling. Delicious, but just a wee bit too much garlic on each oyster. The grilled garlic breads were perfect in every respect: texture, taste, aroma, and pretty visual.

We also had the grilled yellowtail jack which was in season. Sorry, no pics of the fish, but have one of the special boards:

We returned for aperitifs with 2 very wet pups after they romped in the freezing ocean, and ended up staying for dinner. We didn’t have anything exciting, fried oysters for me, a burger for him, and bowl of NE Clam Chowder to share. Of course, the pups were offered their water and treats again. Everything was very well prepared with locally sourced products as much as possible. The batter on the oysters was perfectly light and crispy with that nice lacy texture to it. The burger was grass fed local beef that was nicely grilled. Clam chowder here was much better than the Marshall Store’s. All washed down with Boonts amber ale, by Anderson Valley Brewing Company.

Most definitely the pups, they were pooped out from chasing each other and their tennis ball in the ocean.

Yeah, doggie stew hasn't caught on here yet.

(Oh my, I am going to get so much grief for that. Never had my post yanked before, always a first. )
