I was recently reminded of the very good Benedict at Wilde on Broadway. It's made with a Rosemary smoked ham.? Otherwise traditional and only served at weekend brunch.

I love the Austrian Bakery at 2533 N Clark.

The basic problem I've had at Orange with the pancake "flight" is that they are small pancakes so they cool off very quickly. Cold pancakes aren't as good as hot ones. OTOH I like the ability to design your own fresh fruit juice blend.

Orange wouldn't be among my top half dozen choices for breakfast in the city, but sometimes you care more about a location that's convenient.

I think the food is really good, but tend to feel a bit claustrophobic in there. Late breakfast on a weekday (say around 10:30) is generally fine. Again, nowhere near Clark and Diversey, but definitely worth the trip.

Here's why I love the Forum. I've passed Cornerstone Cafe tens of thousands of times, and haven't given it a second thought. It's definitely going to get a visit from me before week's end thanks to all the positive reviews here. I've been to the Golden Whatever on the West side of that six corners twice, when all the while there was somewhere good to eat in that hellish intersection!

With Flub a Dubs, Pastoral, Crisp, Lito's, Frances', Icosium, and Ponzu all within half a mile, clearly there's nowhere to eat near Clark and Diversey.

I thought we were talking about breakfast. Five of those seven - all but Frances' and Crepe and Coffee Palace (formerly Icosium Kafe) - are not open for breakfast.

We are, but the area gets a bad rap for having nothing good for any meal which simply isn't true.

I never thought that. I think there's plenty to eat in that area, I just don't go there often because parking is hell, and I'm never up early enough to know what's a good place for breakfast.

By the way, you forgot Soupbox.

There's plenty to eat in the neighborhood. North Pond, for my money one of the very best casual fine dining restaurants in the entire city, is nearby. Oh and you also didn't mention Chilam Balam, which offers very creative Mexican food (although I wouldn't place it in the pantheon of Mixteco, Mundial, or Bayless's places).
