How is it silly to complain that a product doesn't actually contain its namesake ingredient, naan, or to complain that a sandwich (defined by its "bread") had such poor quality bread that it detracted from otherwise great filling?
Those seem to be about the two most legitimate things one could complain about something called a "naanwich".

Also, I disagree that typical Indian naan would not work with their fillings. It would work better than what they are (sometimes apparently) using which didn't work well at all. Real naan would actually stay softer around the edges and less soggy in the middle because its not as porous and absorbent than the almost cornbread-like wrap in question.
But regardless, even if their lack of use of real naan (or anything better than the wrap I had) was a logistical constraint due to their being forced to make them hours in advance, it is still doesn't change the fact that is made for a low quality dining experience and thus is a rather un-silly thing to complain about. I (and I suspect JustJoan) am not so concerned with why the wrap wasn't good, but only with the fact that it wasn't good. Whether I eat more or recommend them to others depends solely on the latter.

Aw, dammit. I'm about five blocks west of their range. Wonder if they'd make an exception? I am sort of housebound these days.

I just stumbled across a Gaztro-Wagon at Ravenswood and Leland, the west side of Ravenswood right by the Metra tracks.

I had a squash, sage and mascarpone naan and a bag of plantain chips. The naan was moist & fluffy, the plaintain chips salty, crispy. I scarfed it all down in about three minutes. Yum!

My only complaint, the portions seemed a bit skimpy (and I'm a light eater).

But, otherwise, I think that's a great location for the hungry masses getting off Metra at the end of the day. Thanks, Gaztro-Wagon!

first time I ate there I had two sandwiches. I was super hungry though, and it was almost too much. I feel like one sandwich and chips is a decent size - I'm 6'4" 225lbs for reference.

I had the lobster - too salty and disappointing more pancetta or whatever meat than anything else. They should fold in half and make a more substantial sandwich instead of the roll.

Plantain chips are the best and most reasonably priced item.

    Meh

Ate at the Gastro Wagon today at the Merch Mart. I had their mushroom soup and a Duck confit naanwhich.

The soup was outstanding. At first, I thought it was a bit watery but forgot to stir it. When I did, each bit was more complex mixing lemongrass and ginger. By the end of the bowl, I wanted another. Fantastic soup!

The duck confit was good. There were some green onions in the sandwhich but I was hoping for a bit more spice. It needed a little kicker to it but overall the entire meal was outstanding.

Although they didn't pick up on my "That's to go" joke when I ordered.... (It's a truck)

    There is a thread here.

Alot of people have issues with the bread/wrapper/naan, me personally I"ve liked everything I've had off of the truck. The recently changed the menu, so I'll have to see what is instore for today. Friday is the one day I don't bring my lunch, so the wagon might be my choice today ... Though The Meatyballs truck should be in the area as well....

Had Meatyballs yesterday! The Thai'd balls is always a winner. The BBQ is good, the standard Meatyballs is just ok, the Truffle dusted chips are awesome, the chocolate salty balls are just ok....

Tried the Gaztro-wagon. Waited in a line of about 20 people, with more lining up behind. My friend and I split the the 'Wild Boar Cassoulet / White Beans / Tomato / Leeks /
Andouille Sausage Naan-wich' and 'Grilled Cheese / Pork Cheeks / Gouda / Onion' one...

the Grilled Cheese one was cheesy and warm but not a ton of flavor. A little bland.

The Wild Boar was better but flavors were just ok....

    Plantain chips were pretty tasty.

Overall (although after just two samples) I prefer Meatyballs as I think the flavors are stronger, especially in the Thai'd ball and BBQ Balls.

But they both have a problem in that they have to be wrapped and sitting in a heater and everything gets king of mushy. Guess that's why they want to cook on the trucks? But of course not going to be as fast for delivery...

My first-time at the Gaztro-Wagon (in my mind I say that with a "v" as in Gaztro-Vagen). Had the veggie option: couscous, olive, chickpea and fontina on a pita. Not a sandwich I would ever eat again. Too starchy and bready. I thought couscous would be an accent, but, no, it was like a couscous side dish wrapped in a pita. With cheese. I was hoping for more olive & chickpea, but pretty light on those.

The best I can say is I liked the bread.

Fran, that's unfortunate. Personally I've never had one of their veggie sandwiches. Are you a vegetarian, or were you just giving that one a shot? If you're not, I hope you do try other sandwiches sometime.

I'm not vegetarian, but i don't mix milk and meat (aka kosher "style"), eat pork, shellfish, etc. Which means i will choose vegetarian in many situations. All of the Wagen's meat sandwiches have cheese on them, and since they're not prepared to order, I can't ask to hold the cheese.

Off to see a movie, so I needed something quick from the neighborhood. Stopped in and got the Croque Monsiuer made with an egg (a Madame). Really enjoyed it, but towards the end, the mornay and egg proved to be a little too heavy for me. Also got plaintain chips and 2 bags of the Oatmeal PB&J pies, which I plan to devour after the film.
