I had an odd issue come up. A client of mine, as part of enforcing a judgment, was able to seize the opposing party's wine collection for sale to satisfy the judgment. The collection has some decent stuff. However, the opposing party is unable to verify storage conditions sufficiently to satisfy a company like Hart Davis, which takes this stuff very seriously, so unfortunately, HDH cannot sell it for us.

Does anybody have any other ideas as to how to sell the collection?

Winebid.com has an office in the Chicago area (just off 290 at route 20, IIRC)

I would have recommended my BIL's consignment business but if HDH won't touch it I'd
be sure that my BIL would turn it down too....

Thanks. The problem is that the guy who owned it claims that it was stored in temp/humidity controlled enviroment, but he really can't document it. From what I've seen of the stuff, it appears to be in good shape (some of it in OWC) but without that documentation, HDH passed on it.

Which, and not to digress, is part of the reason that I buy stuff from HDH. I pay a bit more at times to get stuff through them, but I'm very confident of condition, storage, etc.

Do you have a spreadsheet on the contents? I'd be interested in seeing what is there?
price wise you can get some ideas from previous auctions and from Wine-searcher.com

The classifieds in the back of Wine Spectator have ads for people looking to purchase collections.
