Miller Bakery Cafe to close very soon. That whole Miller Beach "rebirth" is over. A wonderful place with great food and service. Wing Wah across the street will absorb the traffic. LOL

Searching for Miller Bakery I find stray mention of it in lists, I even found a post where someone says "I keep seeing it in lists but nobody ever says what's great about it," but what you will not find is a post saying why anyone should go there. And now you can't— and we have three posts saying that.

I remember seeing Miller Bakery Cafe on Check Please, thought it would make a good stop in the area, never went seems I never will.

Several years ago, I drove past Miller Bakery Cafe to find it bustling. When you consider the conditions in Gary, this small district seemed like a point of light. It was also kept an arm's distance from GAry by calling itself Miller Beach, when it is in part of Gary.

It could be Miller Beach was a town swallowed into Gary, like Ravinia and Braeside into Highland Park. Or it may be a similar to western edge of Waukegan pretending it is not Waukegan with post office boxes in Libertyville.

At least a few years ago, a quick drive through Miller's Beach felt like there was life renewed.

I drove past there within the last month and was amazed at how run down the street looked.

I used to have a satellite office there 2 doors away from the "Bakery". Miller Pizza is a good place for lunch but that's it. The Chinese place is barely passable.
Gary has swallowed up a little outpost of civility on that desolate area. Sad.
