Central American for delivery to Evanston?

I'm helping to plan a Central American-themed social here in Evanston and we are looking for some really good (but not too pricey) food to be delivered.

I was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions, probably places on the North side or at least places that will deliver all the way to Evanston.

I was going to go with Irazu, but saw that they don't deliver this far north.

You may want to call Irazu to check--often, if the order is large enough, they'll gladly extend delivery well beyond typical boundaries.

Have not been in a good long while, but Taste of Peru fits the bill. Most recent posts seem quite positive.

Not sure they deliver, but Evanston Lunch Group™ had a great (and cheap) meal at Tickie's, featuring food from Belize. It's just a block or two south of the Evanston border, in that suburb of Evanston to the south.

As noted here, Pupuseria Cuscatleco has changed its name to Cafeteria y Pupuseria Frida and was shifting to a more Mexican focus, but keeping the pupusas. I haven't been since March, so I'm not sure what the current status is.

Oops. Not enuf coffee here, either.

Tickie's is a great suggestion. I don't think they normally deliver (if so, I have been missing out), but I bet they would figure something out if the order is large enough. I seem to recall that they do offer catering.

After Pupuseria Cuscatleco #2 became Cafe Frida, they continued making Pupusas by popular demand. I think they kept the same Salvadoran cooks. I was there more recently than GP, but it was a couple of months ago. The pupusas were still OK (but the curdito was still so-so). I think the place was best back when it was still Las Planes. Does the original Pupuseria Cuscatleco on Lawrence still exist (they might be willing to cater to Evanston)?

Check this place out for Belizean. Not sure if they deliver, but the food is homey and delicious.

In Gary's defense, Taste of Peru might not be a bad call culinarily speaking; there is some crossover between South American cuisine and Central American; it depends on what you're looking for - for instance, Irazu's menu has a lot of options that are similar to (if not exactly alike) Colombian, Cuban and Peruvian dishes.

If the OP is looking for foods with a more Caribbean flair, another crossover in Central America, there are any number of options all over Rogers Park that range from Haiti to Jamaica to Belize.

Maybe the OP could give a little more direction in what exactly they are looking for?

Fair point about regional overlap. NB, Irazu, while very good, is not entirely representative of Central American or even Costa Rican food (don't expect to find anything that good in CR, food wise). Belizian is more similar to food from the Eglish-speaking Caribbean than most of the other Central American cuisines. Having traveled around the region, Guatemalan and Salvadoran strike me as having the most typically Central American foods that stand alone as national cuisines (though they share a masa culture with most of the Americas, obviously). Dont't overlook the longstanding Gautemalan in Roscoe Village, El Tinajon.

Right at the end of my street, nice owners, I hope it does well. However, as they have been featured in "Save this restaurant," I could imagine they need some love. Conoce Mi Panama
