My personal favorite Sicilian-style slice is at
Palermo Bakery
3317 N Harlem Ave
Chicago, IL
(773) 777-5957
[closed Monday]
A fairly minimalist slice; not heavy on cheese or tomato, a bit oily. Most authentic to my taste, but all of my tastes were formed here, not in Sicily.
Sicilia Bakery on Lawrence is ok; they're a bit heavy-handed with the cheese, presumably to please American tastes.
Conca d'Oro is good, D'amato's is good. You might also want to try
Sicilian Bakery
4632 N Cumberland Ave
Chicago, IL
(773) 589-2602
So that should keep you busy checking out pizza for a while!
And you should just go to Freddy's in Cicero because it's really, really good. My personal nominee for best Italian restaurant in the Chicago area.
