Also, a check with the city shows that The Gap has already been issued a business permit for that location.

I was hoping for a Banana Republic ;)

First, Lounge Ax now Double Door...but, what do you expect with the old Wicker Park now Wicker Playground and Dog Park?

Not that I long for the days of crack whores and Latin Kings, mind you.

This is the death knell to any creative spark that neighborhood might've once laid claim.

Urk! Hopefully they're not evicted too quickly, Katie Todd Band is having their CD release party on the 25th.

    Via chicagoist:

Negotiations took place this afternoon during a 2-hour session in judge's chamber. The Trib and the Sun Times were there, along with some bloggers and rock fans. .. about 50 people total. Chicagoist's own Scott Smith attended and just called in to report that the Double Door is guaranteed to be in their current location through the year 2014. Their current lease will go through the year 2009 and they then will renew for 5 more years.

Maybe we'll get lucky and the Velvet Lounge will be saved...

Seriously, it's good news but it wouldn't even be an issue if when places like the Double Door or the Velvet Lounge (or Lounge Axe) were driven out could take their liquor license (or get a new one) and reopen elsewhere.

I'm still crossing my fingers here about the Double Door until hear that the landlord isn't appealing this ruling (or whatever it's termed legally).
