I'm finally going to buy myself some poultry shears. Not sure which one to get. I subscribe to Cook's Illustrated but not on-line so I can't find their recommendation either. Anyone love their poultry shears?

One more thing. I'm left handed. It seems that Cook's Illustrated has a recommendation for a left handed shear but again, I can't look at it on-line.

I have a pair of JA Henckels shears, purchased at Bed Bath & Beyond, that I love. They have a spring-type mechanism that provides extra leverage for cutting through bones, plus the blades are sharper than any other pair I have, meaning that you get clean cuts on trimming. They have a flip lock to keep them closed when not in use, and a good roomy handle. A steal at about $20, and that's not including BBB's ubiquitous 20% coupons. They are easily as strong as any of my garden clippers! :)

The best are made by Wusthof. Mine are stainless with no chrome coating, they will crunch through just about anything and I can't see how they are handed one way or the other.-Dick

Cooks Illustrated does not have a 'poultry shears' review.

In their review of kitchen shears they said:

We excluded poultry shears, with their characteristic bulky, curved blades, because while a good pair of kitchen shears can handle poultry with ease, poultry shears are awkward and unwieldy for other tasks.

For lefty kitchen shears they recommended: Wüsthof Come-Apart Kitchen Shears

We have those (although we can't find them at the moment) and I'm a lefty. They're really great kitchen shears. Definitely worth picking up.

Looks like I have to investigate the Wusthof. It's funny. Right handed people have no idea that things are shaped for them but when my righty husband tries to use my regular left handed scissors, he appreciates the difference. Thanks for your rec's.

Yea. Let him sit sometime in one of those school auditorium seats with the tables that swing up and cover half your lap. Some of them are for lefties. If he sits in a lefty seat, he will get it.
