Six corners (Bucktown)recommendation?

Will be at Quimby's Wednesday night to see Charles Burns and wondering what is good within walking distance of there at around Milwaukee/North/Damen?

Have been browsing the forums and see a few things like Piece Pizzeria but it is a dense area and wondering if anyone who lives there can give me a good recommendation for something not high end, but moderate (like Piece).

Not knowing what style of food you're looking for, it's a bit hard to make a recommendation. I really enjoyed my last meal at Taxim, which is just around the corner. Mado, a GNR, is right around the corner, but given the recent news, you might want to hold off.

I have my eye on Big Star since I have am on a mission to find the best Al Pastor tacos since my favorite Tierra Grill (R.I.P) is now gone.

If you're looking for something casual, Big Star or Piece is the way to go. Both get crowded, so if you are in a big group you may wait awhile for a table. If you're flying solo, both are good bars to belly up at. I personally enjoy the bar at Big Star, followed up by a cocktail at the Violet Hour across the street. It's a wonderful 1-2 punch.

I have mixed feelings about Big Star, but my opinion of their al pastor is not mixed - it's just not very good. When the trompo is spinning, Tierra Caliente on Ashland is the place in the area to eat al pastor.
