went to lockhart's bbq on sat. to judge a rib burn.
had some great ribs from the contest 12 teams , great time

but i really enjoyed this joint. only been open a month or so .
staff was great including the best bartender in royal oak.(go vist liz)

judging started at 2pm . i was early so had a few items
chicken gumbo was great.
also a place that was burnt ends the way they should be
they where outstanding.
everything that i seen come out of the kitchen look great.
hope to get back soon

and they have a cali. style grill up front & a J&R olier smoker

We're heavy into fall Que season here in Georgia. Cherokee Pignic was a couple of weeks ago in north GA, Big Pig Jig in Vienna, GA in a few weeks.

Look up Col Poole's BBQ in East Ellijay, GA. They have an interesting Pig Hill behind their joint with little wooden pigs for notables and others who've eaten there. Early in the morning you'll find the pitmaster's assistants burning down coals behind the cookshack. They have a website.
