Fair Oaks Farms and the Little Red Smokehouse
    Thursday, Nov. 4, 7 p.m.

Come hear about Fair Oaks Farms and the other ventures of Swedish cheesemaker Sven Mill in a presentation on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m at the Museum. Located in northwest Indiana, Fair Oaks Farms is owned by nine local dairy farm families. Since he arrived at Fair Oaks, Sven has been putting his talents to use, most notably with his famous Royal Blue Cheese. Sven is from Grythyttan, Sweden, and for many years he delivered a buffet to His Royal Highness the King of Sweden in celebration of Swedish National Day. Sven is also one of the contributing authors to the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) cookbook, For the Love of Food.

Following the presentation, there will be a sampling of appetizers from some of the farms’ products, along with a wine tasting. Cost: $20 members, $25 non-members. Reservations are recommended. To reserve your spot, please pay online below, e-mail Museum@samac.org, or call 773.728.8111.

I'm planning on attending--my friend is the Executive Director for the museum. Sven is very entertaining--should be an interesting progam.

LTHer Phil Wingo assisted Sven and Boudreaulicious along with owners of Tre Kronor Larry and Patty, where the LTHForum holiday party will be held, were among the audience. An enjoyable and delicious evening, I am absolutely smitten with Sven's blue cheese.

Definitely a fun event...I loved the salmon spread, gravlax and the rustic soup/stew. Butter and cheeses were wonderful. A very interesting collection of people in attendance, including the legal secretary who shared our table and enjoyed being confounded by our own G Wiv

Just sorry I missed the Glogg!!

Wow - never seen anything as beautiful as that blue cheese at their shop...I wonder if they keep it in back so as not to scare those who don't know any better...

Nail on the head Mhays, I was professing my love for Fair Oaks blue cheese to cheese shop manager Jamie when she interjected at the retail shop they trim mold off the wheels of blue cheese as they were fielding numerous negative reactions from tourists.
