I've not heard of flavored whiskey, but it would be an abomination.

the cherry jim beam sounds interesting, but I haven't tried it. I like jack on the rocks with a couple of cherries.

I saw some of the minibar-sized bottles for $.50 when it first came out and picked up a few out of curiosity. It was horrid. Like someone took Jim Beam and added something halfway between the juice from maraschino cherries and cherry cough syrup. There was a definite chemical/medicinal taste. It was also definitely sweeter than standard Beam.

On the other hand, Compass Box Orangerie is heavenly. The orange and whiskey flavors are balanced to the point I'm not sure which is more prominent and the spice is just enough to boost the depth of flavor without overwhelming. And most importantly, it's not overly sweet and there are no chemical flavors.

Is that the Red Stag? Oh my lord, is that stuff an abomination unto bourbon. I bought some Beam for mixing for a party a couple months ago and it came with a little sample of Red Stag. "Cherry cough syrup" is not an unwarranted comparison. Terrible stuff.

I'm typically flavoring-averse, but my time in British Columbia has left me quite fond of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky--particularly after (and before) a day on the slopes of Whistler Blackcomb. It provides a gentle, warming heat and it's not overly sweet.

A wine shop I work at sells a maple flavored whiskey. Its nasty on its own - pretty good in a cup of coffee.
