I drink wine, beer, and whiskey.
I rarely order a cocktail beyond a G&T in summer, a bloody with brunch, or a dirty martini now and then.
With the exception of an occasional mimosa on New Year's day, I never make them. Ever.
Cocktail culture has passed me by, both the original wave and the new.

But, I suddenly felt that something or other utilizing pom. juice might be both festive and tasty this holiday weekend. Aside from just spiking it with vodka, I'd be interested in any actual recipes that people have tried and enjoyed.
However, when it comes to alchemy involving bits of triple sec or grenadine, or three different artfully combined spirits, I have neither experience nor instinct and so am seeking counsel.

I love making cocktails. Here are 3 recipes I've adapted from various bars and restaurants.

    Pomegranate Diablo

    2 Servings

    1 ounce fresh lime juice
    2 ounces pomegranate juice
    1 ounce Cointreau
    2 ounces tequila

Mix all ingredients and shake with ice

    Pomegranate Cosmo

    2 Servings

    1 ounce fresh lime juice
    1 ounce pomegranate juice
    1 ounce cranberry juice cocktail
    1 ounce Grand Marnier
    2 ounces vodka

Mix all ingredients and shake with ice

    Pomegranate Martini

    2 Servings

    2 ounces pomegranate vodka
    2 ounces pomegranate juice
    1 ounce pomegranate liqueur
    1 ounce Cointreau
2 ounces pineapple juice, fresh squeezed

Puree fresh pineapple if juice not available and pomegranate juice. Stir in remaining ingredients.

I do love a good pom tini. I think somehow I don't feel as guilty when drinking it as it is got good things. I do get a bit tipsy though if I have more than one.

I'd make pomegranate syrup (i.e. grenadine) with it, and make the delicious Daisy 75 from The Violet Hour. For thoughts and insight into grenadine production see e-gullet: http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?/to ... ge__st__30 I especially like the half hot/half cold production method (half 2:1 sugar to pom heated, half 1:1 sugar to pom shaken) mixed together with a bit of orange flower water.

The recipe for the Daisy 17:

    Daisy 17

    2 oz Wild Turkey 101
    .75 oz Lemon Juice
    .50 oz House Made Grenadine
    .25 oz Simple Syrup
    3 dash House Orange Bitters

    Glass: Coupe
    Garnish: Flamed Orange Twist (Discarded)
    Ice: None

Build all ingredients in a Shaker.. Shake. Strain. Serve up.
