I went last night to Pizzeria Serio, which opened earlier this week. The style of pizza is said to be between Neopolitan and New York. I found it similar to that at Coalfire, which I certainly mean as a compliment.
We had the Diavolo pizza, which is topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, Sopressata salami, peperonchinis, and red onions. The thin crust had the right amount of bubbling and char, and the toppings had a mildly spicy flavor. Overall, it was very good.
The service had some glitches, but given the short time since they opened I would give them a pass. We ordered a salad and flatbread; they brought out the bread but the salad took another 15 minutes (the waitress apologized). As a result, we didn't get to eat the bread with the salad, and the pizza came just after we had started eating the salad. Incidentally, the flatbread, which is made with garlic butter and Parmesan, was very good.
Another big plus from my point of view is that they serve Mexican Coke (with sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup) in glass bottles. In terms of alcohol, it's BYOB for now.
The space is attractive, with brick walls and an open view of the oven in back. It was a bit echo-y and loud, made clear by a couple of screaming babies. It was reasonably crowded relatively early on a Saturday night.
