yep, that be me. a while back the GF and I closed down the place and were talking with Alex about what a great beer list he had, and the really cool cocktails too. But the wine list was pretty weak. I said I had some great reasonably-priced wines and he would only need a few white and a few red to keep the crowd happy, since not everyone that goes there drinks beer or booze. Now the wine quality is at least on par with the other drinks :)

    Glad you approve,

Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon? Ham? Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal.
Homer: Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.

I hate to say it, but I visited Weegee's a few weeks before Christmas and was....disappointed. The first thing that struck me was the dark and cozy atmosphere, which was great. The second thing that struck me was the smell. It was a pungent mildewy smell, like their basement had flooded and it hadn't been properly dealt with. Maybe this has been addressed in the weeks since, but it was very unpleasant.

I ordered a cocktail from the menu and tasted several of my friends' cocktails and wasn't blown away. In fact, all of the cocktails pretty much tasted the same to me. I'm not the type of girl who orders chocolatinis, but I went in expecting something different/yet on par with a cocktail I'd get at the Whister or L&E. Is there something I'm missing? Did we all just order the wrong thing? I'm sorry to say I can't remember exactly what I ordered, but that tells you how memorable it was.

Overall, I felt a cool response from the bartenders, which is not a dealbreaker for me, but it went a little beyond that. My drinking buddy asked the bartender for a Moscow Mule and he refused. She laughed thinking he was joking, but he was not, and gave no explanation. It's possible that we were their on an "off" night, but I just can't see myself making a special trip to go back.
