Given the combination of cold weather and fish, I've been thrown for a loop for festive side dishes to accompany my main course. I would much appreciate the opinions of the other brilliant palettes on this board. I'm also serving a baked pasta dish, so I've got to keep them lighter. Thanks to all in advance!

I'd serve it with some big, juicy steaks. Classic surf and turf.

I'd want something a little acidic. Maybe sauteed Tuscan kale with a good squeeze of lemon juice (been eating that alot lately). Or I know it's kind of 2007, but a raw salad w cauliflower and shaved fennel and or granny smith apple, herbs, toasted pistachio and a simple vinaigrette sounds good too.

If you also have a pasta dish I would serve some kind of green salad, with ingredients depending on what the other dishes are. If I serve crab or shrimp when I serve pasta with it, its usually in a creme sauce as opposed to a red sauce.

All great suggestions above, but I second the Tuscan Kale, a winter produce.

My preference is to shredded the kale, then sauteed with garlic, tossed into some cappelini and a flurry of parmesan on top. My take on pici. For a touch of freshness, some lemon zest will counter the richness of the crab stuffed shrimp.

Sounds delicious. Would you like to share your recipe?

Oops...didn't see that you are making a baked pasta dish. Wow, baked pasta and crab stuffed shrimp? Decadently rich...

    Kale, definitely, kale.
