I really enjoy sipping tequila with Big Star's sangrita. The "drink" was called Los Tres Reyes, in which a bonus can of Tecate makes up the trio. Their sangrita is the perfect balance of sweet, sour and heat and was wondering if anyone can replicate it.

Asking the bartender reveals it has pomegranate reduction (grenadine?), sevilla oranges and four chiles, 2 of which are arbol and guajillo. Any tips or recipes I can try?

Jeffrey Morgenthaler has a recipe on his blog that attempts to replicate the fresh Seville orange/pomegranate flavors with some more readily available ingredients.

    1 oz orange juice (freshly-squeezed)
¾ oz – 1 oz lime juice (depending on the sweetness of your oranges)
    ½ oz real pomegranate grenadine
3 dashes hot sauce or ¼ tsp chile powder

I would imagine Big Star's recipe is more complex and ultimately more satisfying, but Jeffrey is quite good at producing reliable but simplified recipes (e.g. his ginger beer).

There is quite a bit of discussion in the comments on the blog, including various additional recipes.

Thanks. Getting the heat level just right will probably be a challenge.
