I'm trying to find someplace to order fried chicken for 30 people (catered) in the Wicker Park area (or somewhere that delivers). Didn't see anything here on Father and Son's for chicken or anything else (search may have something to do with it - please support searching for phrases!).

Happy to take any other suggestions!

    Thanks,
    Jay

I've never used their catering, but I do very much like their fried (or is it broasted) chicken, and I especially like their cole slaw.

(I also like their ultra thin, pizza air, pizza, but that's not really that important, right?)

Yes, I believe it's broasted, and I agree it's tasty and juicy. And their pizza was always a favorite of mine, but then they closed the one in Gladstone Park so I haven't had any since.

Thanks for the replies. According to the folks at wikipwdia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broasting broasting is still frying, albeit under pressure. From my days at KFC, I would have to say I believe the original recipe is actually broasted chicken. However, since they may not buy equipment from the Kleenex of the broasting industry, Broaster Company, they can't refer to it as broasted.

A few years ago a friend ordered the chicken from Marcellos for a party, they were the only people who would deliver a relatively smaller order (probably 30-40 pieces IIRC). I was actually amazed at the quality considering it was delivered and I had arrived some time after delivery. In my teenage years I did catering for a local fried chicken chain and often times the chicken would steam itself during delivery and lose the crispiness to the skin. Apparently the people were also very nice to work with. Sorry I can't give a much better description, but this was a few years ago, though the fact that I remember who catered must be a good thing!

Marcello's is one of our go-to delivery options. Nothing is fantastic (at least after being driven to our house), but the broasted chicken (which my wife orders probably 90% of the time) is pretty good.

I've never been a big fan of fried chicken but when my sister / BIL lived @ Diversey & Western we'd order from there once and a while. The garlic and oregano broasted chicken was pretty tasty. The sides were all forgettable.

I was addicted to the garlic bread sticks with marinara dipping sauce. They were very crisp, very greasy, and loaded with garlic. The sauce was unremarkable but I often find myself craving those sticks.
