Picked up two live baby octopus at H-Mart, Niles yesterday. They are kept in some new live tanks they must have recently installed, two to a net bag.
They were a little too big to eat whole as shown on various u-tube videos but the tentacles chopped in to 2-3" lengths with either a Korean dipping sauce or lemon were excellent. Of course the whole thing is really a sensation and textural affectation. As the tentacles get larger in diameter, they become very chewy. The bodies will be cleaned and grilled.
Call ahead if contemplating purchase as the supply was dwindling.
Also picked up some nice lobsters which we poached off and shelled for New Year's Day.
Stopped at Mitsuwa and purchased some very nice blue fin O-Toro and Akami for this evening along with various sashimi grade items for tonight.
I bet these places are even more crowded today than yesterday!
Happy New Year!-Dick
