Looking for rice paper wrappers for sushi-Far Western 'burbs

I know thatI can go to Westmont or Arlington Heights, but I am hoping for something closer to home. Does anyone know of an asian market that would carry rice paper wrappers closer to the Fox Valley area?

Are you looking for nori? Many mainstream grocery stores carry this.

No, not Nori. I can get that at a lot of stores as you said. I am looking for the rice paper wrappers that sushi bars use in place of nori on some rolls. It is usually colored green, red or yellow. They may also be soybean paper (mamenori). i can order them online, but i was hoping to use them this weekend and don't have time to get to the big asian markets.

I'd check Meijer. They have a pretty big asian section.

I'm pretty sure I've seen them at Woodman's in North Aurora in their International aisle.

Try Michael's Fresh Market on the corner of Ogden and Route 59 in Aurora/Naperville.

I believe I've seen the wrappers at Caputo's which is located on Route 59 at 111th Street in Naperville.

I checked both Meijer's and Woodman's at lunch today and both had Nori, but not the soy paper wrappers. Woodman's also has a selection of spring roll wrappers, but they were frozen and look like the type for making fried spring rolls.

I get my rice paper wrappers to make Vietnamese spring rolls at Hmart. I haven't tried making sushi with them.

To correct myself , I'm really looking for mamenori, or soy paper sheets.

Just to close the loop, I went to Super H Mart in Naperville on Friday afternoon and struck out. Then i went to Asia Market, also in Naperville, and they had memenori!

In case anyone cares what i did with the mamenori, here is tonight's creation...



I called it Q-Shi From left to right, Pork Chop Nigiri with Lime-Wasabi glaze, New York Strip Nigiri with Horseradish, Chicken Breast Nigiri with Citrus-BBQ sauce and BBQ Maki with all three meats, cucumber, avocado and BBQ sauce.
