I will call Mmmdonuts as well. I saw her last week and told her she should prepare even though she was in the #2 spot.

She will be very happy. She's very happy. I just got off of the phone with her. She already quizzed me about what I was bringing. Told her I was leaning towards pie. Then told her about pi day. Then she asked did I have a preferred recipe for crust.

    My old roomie is fantastic.

Seems like we've had a lot of last minute additions and subtractions this time around. I hope everyone can make it, but if there is another spot open, my wife would like to come this time.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to make bread pudding with a bacon-bourbon sauce this time. My current plan is that the bread pudding itself will be vegetarian, which bacon in the sauce only.

OK, looks like ymas has bowed out.

Jygach got in their request to come first. I'll send them a PM.

Eli, I'll put your wife on the waiting list, but I would say just bring her. There were plenty of leftovers last time, and we have enough room for an extra person to join us.

I wonder what would happen if you folded some whipped cream into the bacon sauce and used it to top your pecan pie. Bet it would also be good over French Toast. Can you tell I have the munchies?*

Clearly this could only be done as the end of a meal consisting of one of those bacon-inside-sausage-inside-bacon-weave deals.

    Hi all,

I'm having a random urge to make cinnamon rolls with a cream cheese frosting. Is this too breakfast-y or can I count it as dessert?

Sounds like it passes for dessert. I count doughnuts and danish as dessert.

I agree. Chouxfly made a fabulous danish that actually tasted as good as it looked. I'm still showing pics of it to people.

I could go for cheesecake. The last one I made was pumpkin and it was very light and airy.

Eli, since I already told you to go ahead and bring your wife, I guess there's nothing I need to change, though I updated the RSVP list on the front page.

Nope. I used the Taste of Home version, which got raves from my in-laws. I didn't bother with the garnish.

instead of experimenting on you all, as i'd intended, i'm losing today to a migraine. so i will be making one of my favorite chocolate cakes with what i'm calling a secret ingredient; just for the fun of seeing who can guess what it is. nothing bizarre- just invisible in the finished cake. fortunately, the sea salt caramels i'm also bringing were made yesterday. i'm looking forward to tomorrow- see you guys at 5. joan

Thank you to Chouxfly, a most excellent host. (You can breathe now, it's all over.) As was said by I believe MMMdonuts, this might have been the best dessert exchange yet. Fabulous veg chili and the most delectable focaccia. The dessert array was outstanding and my stomach is about to burst. I did not bring my camera, but there were plenty of flashes going, so I'm sure photos will soon follow.

You are all such generous folks, as well as incredibly talented bakers and wonderful guests (I think I would have needed a crowbar to pry Nancie away from doing dishes!). Since many people were asking about it, I've posted my focaccia recipe in the Shopping and Cooking forum.

    Enjoy!
