We will be holding our monthly sausage fest this coming Monday night at 7:30. Hammond is keeping us in suspense as to the location. He will send us all an email at 7:00 to tell us where to go.

All are welcome, all are welcome, at this event.....

I'm tentatively in, depending on a previous commitment, which doesn't look like it's actually going to happen. I'll confirm either way, asap.

I got a letter in the mail from Hammond. He has decided on Marion Street Cheese Market. He said he's going to treat the table to some Jamon Iberico, or maybe not.

    Hi,

A letter in the mail from Hammond? You mean paper with thoughts outlined then folded neatly in an envelope with a stamp on it? I am impressed. In this day of PM and e-mail, a real letter is something really special.

    It's a no-brainer if Hammond is treating!

Never one to deprive anyone of a good time or magical moments.

Have you entertained thoughts of something similar to Asimov's the Black Widowers series?

I have a call into Eric to see if they can prepare some fondue for us, but it's not on the menu, so I'm not terribly optimistic. They do, however, have some beautiful cheese in stock, like this Sofia from Capriole Farms, which I had last week. Sofia has a delicious range of textures and a beautiful balance of acidity (the goat's milk) and alkaline (the ash).

An easy and complementary pairing to remember is Sofia cheese and Goose Island Sofie.

Apologies for the last-minute notice, but I'm not going to be able to make it after all. My CEO just decided to send me to Indianapolis on Wed. to conduct some interviews he doesn't want to deal with, and I find myself swamped with things that need to be done before then :(

I am stricken to report I am stricken - I'm unable to leave the house due to multiple sick and awake family members. I've called MSCM to update Hammond and deeply regret the late scratch (almost as most as my stomach).

MSCM was kind enough to relay the message. Panther was also under the weather. He came but didn't eat anything and didn't even say much, so you know he was really not feeling well.

Thanks to all who attended. I believe MSCM showed exactly what it is last night. Inconsistent food, mind-blowing cheeses, pleasant but amateur service, good beers, and <insert other random observations here.>

For those first time OPBN'ers, I hope it won't be the last. :D

Let me add, it's not a cheap place. $57/head. Some of that cheese we got must have been pretty pricey.

Sofie (the goat cheese that everyone seemed to like), Chatham (a camembert), and a Cabot bandaged cheddar, the name of which will come to me (VI will remember -- he also ordered a pyrimidal goat cheese).
