Can someone please recommend someplace in the Chicagoland area to buy Berkshire pork. I did a search on here, and really don't relish the thought of driving to Willow Creek Farms. Thanks!

You could call over to Butcher and Larder and see if Rob intends to mix it up. The Gapers Block article indicates he's getting his pork from Slagel, which does a duroc/york mix, but it's possible that he'll be diversifying with other suppliers and bringing in other heritage breeds.

Here's a few farms that regularly deliver to the Chicago area, and you can definitely do a pick up at a farmer's market from any of these places (and could get a drop of if you're looking at getting a whole or half pig). Duroc is the primary heirloom breed nowadays, but it would be worth asking them about Berkshire, they'll certainly be willing to point you in the right direction if they don't have what you want.

I swear I've seen Berkshire pork at one of the Asian markets. Perhaps H-Mart in Niles, but I'm thinking it was probably Mitsuwa in Arlington Heights.

Looking at an old Mitsuwa sales flyer, (12-23-10 to 12-26-10) I see they had "Pork Berkshire Belly" on sale for $5.99 Lb. (The ad also says down from their regular price of $7.99 lb.)
