Today I bought a bottle of Eiswein at Aldi's that is imported from Germany. It was about ten bucks a bottle. Have not tried it yet.

I'd like to know how it was, once you get a chance to try it out! $10 is a heck of a deal if it's even decent.

I've opened the bottle and had some today. I think its very good. Mind you I never have had eiswein before so I am not a good judge. Its a sweet wine and white. I noticed my Aldi's still has it.

    Toria,

Was there appropriate acidity to balance the sweetness?

FWIW, I haven't checked Aldi but I have noticed quite a few more bottles (different producers) of eiswein at my local market this week which had lower price points. I wonder why. I picked up a bottle of Schlink Haus for 13.99 that was pretty good.

I think there were other notes rather than pure sweetness. It was not a wine just sweet like Mogen David is which is just wine with sugar added, but it was a sweet wine with other notes too I think they were acid but since I am not a experienced wine drinker its hard for me to describe. I think it was pleasant.

It was Rheinhessen Eiswein imported from Germany, 2008. Got good reviews on line from what I could find. I did not pay as much for it at Aldi as what I saw on line.

Saw this today at the aldi on montrose, across from lutz, marked down to $7.99. If we like it, i may go buy a few more to keep in the basement.

I have tried the $7.99 eiswein. While i'm no expert, i've only tried other eiswein's a couple of times, this really did just taste like sweetened white wine. Other Eiswein i've had seemed to have have it's own character, this is pretty boring.
