Smoke masters will unite when Jeff Shapiro hosts over 40 local BBQ pitmasters—including Charlie McKenna (Lillie’s Q), Willie Wagner (Honky Tonk BBQ), Gary Wiviott (author of Low & Slow: Master the Art of Barbeque in 5 Easy Lessons), and Dave Raymond and the Sweet Baby Ray’s culinary team—for a “meet-up” at his restaurant, Real Urban Barbecue, located at 610 Central Avenue #177 in downtown Highland Park, Monday, January 24.

“RUB” shoulders with BBQ royalty as they sample Jeff Shapiro’s award-winning fare. Amateur BBQ aficionados are welcome to stop by beginning at 7pm to trade tips with the masters and hone their skills at this informal, open-to-the-public gathering.

Since opening in November 2010, Real Urban Barbecue specializes in carry-out, catering orders and dine-in. The mouthwatering menu features homemade BBQ sauce and slow-smoked ribs, pulled pork, turkey, brisket and chicken.

This was from a local newspaper's e-mail distribution. It was posted about as soon as I happened to see it.
