The next dessert exchange will be at 5pm on Sunday, February 13th in the western suburb of Oakbrook Terrace (across from Oakbrook Center Mall near the intersection of Rt. 83 & 22nd St.) I usually limit to ten people, but since the dessert exchanges are so popular, I'm going to open it up to 12 people total including me.

Here is the basic format for the dessert exchange:

    1) I’ll serve a light dinner (probably a soup and/or salad)
    2) Bring one recipe size of any dessert – no doubling or tripling of recipes needed!
    3) Bring a container to transport your dessert assortment home. (Or two, one for refrigerated desserts and one for non-refrigerated desserts.)
    4) Come hungry. You probably won’t want to eat another dessert afterwards for another month.

I don't think we'll have a theme; feel free to make whatever you like. (Although in the past, some participants have been vegetarians and/or those who don't drink alcohol.)

    1. Ms. Ingie - Julia Childs' Apple Tart
    2. Cookie Monster - Raspberry Mousse Cups
    3. jygach - Guiness Gingerbread
    4. mrms - chocolate valentine scone/cookies
    5. Cathy2 - Red Velvet Cake
    6. Chouxfly - Kouign Aman
    7. justjoan - TBD
    8. eli - Monkey Bread
    9. Pie Lady - Victoria Sandwich Cake
    10. Izzy - TBD
    11. pairs4life - Newspaper Cookie
    12. pairs4life guest - Apple Cream Pie

I've sampled you other wares, so I know you bake without bacon. :D Will Mrs. Eli be attending? My offer for babysitting stands.

I'm in for 2. Will let you know what it will be.

FWIW- I'm the vegetarian who doesn't consume alcohol, that said, you should make whatever you like with alcohol, bacon, gelatin, etc. Just let me know that I can't consume it. It's not like there won't be enough desserts to try.

Well things filled up in a hurry. I wasn't sure what to do, because I had asked if Mrs. Eli (Rachael) was coming, but others replied before eli was able to post back. I wrestled with what to do, but I figured I'd go in order. The list is filled with justjoan and Rachael on the wait list. I already went two over, so I'm hesitant to bump it up two more. If it was nicer weather I would, as we could go out on my deck. So for now, we're at 12. Not sure if anyone wants to take the Valenetine's Day holiday into account when making their desserts; could be a theme. Perhaps desserts with red, romantic or aphrodisiac type ingredients ;) but no pressure to do that.

I'll send a PM as we get closer with my home address and phone number.

No worries. I went ahead and RSVP'd for just myself when I saw how quickly the list was filling up, then by the time I had a chance to check with Rachael, it was full. That's life, and there's always next time.

Sorry to hear you can't make it. Keep your eyes posted for March.

Justjoan has been moved up and Rachael is on the wait list (Mrs. Eli.) Start thinking about your desserts.

Have a sweet time everyone :)
Sorry I will not be able to participate this time. I have a big fund raising event for our greyhound rescue the night before, and will be doing lots of baking and sewing for that.
    See you all next time.

COOKIE MONSTER, if you see this, can you bring the cake dish I accidentally left at your cookie exchange, and give it to Ava (Pairs4life). Thanks so much.

I know right. I was in Mazatlan when it opened & squeaked in. This has gotten to be a very popular exchange.

Hmmm, I don't know. I have something in mind but I have to see if I get a test run on it first. FWIW- What I have in mind isn't even remotely Mexican, although I do love Mexican Hot Chocolate.
