I need you to dig deep into your memory banks. Does anyone remember the name of a rum drink served in a hollowed-out pineapple at the old Kon-Tiki Ports on Michigan Avenue? If I can get the name, I might be able to locate a recipe. Amazingly, 40 years later that flavor still haunts me. And, despite the recent proliferation of tiki bars, I haven't found anything even close to it.

If you google it I think there are some recipes on line. Did you try Hala Kahiki? Its a tiki bar in River Grove. I used to live by it for years and never went. Its close by to Gene and Jude's. For some reason I have a burning desire to go there now even though I never did before. I don't because I would need a designated driver if I drank one of those drinks and its hard to find one. LOL. Maybe you better make it at home.

I've been wanting to try this place for some time.
I'll come with if you want to go - if it get's really ugly we can cab it back to my place in Oak Park to crash - I'm sure the wife won't mind

Go. It's outrageously over the top. I went about a year ago and sat in the back yard area for a couple of drinks. The inside is... over the top. Almost too much for me to handle (hence sitting outside).

Been a few times. Way worth it. Next location for Oak Park Boy's Night Out?

Not sure if this post is related to the drink above or not, but it might be a push in the right direction.
