I really like the vegetarian Pho and the seafood Pho at Pho 777. I still haven't been to Pho Xe Tang. My boyfriend has never had Vietnamese food. Where do I take him? Is there a better place than either of these? (He does eat all sorts of meat too.)

    Thanks.

Going with my standby of Pho 777, I guess.

Perhaps no one has responded to your thread because this topic has been covered numerous times in detail in other threads. Here's a good one about the relative merits of Tank Noodle to get you started: viewtopic.php?p=171938

Blast it. I swear I used a bevy of terms in the search box to find Vietnamese food. (That's what happens when you use an iPhone to post.) Thanks. I will be sure to look through that thread.

We still haven't made it to Argyle St. yet. Probably on Valentine's Day. What's more romantic than Pho? :)

    Durzia, better than Pho 777?

I'll throw my 2 cents in for Pho 888 as well. I've spent a good bit of time dining on Argyle since moving to the neighborhood and of pho or my favorite soup bun bo hue, i find Pho 888 to be the best. I can't really offer an opinion on veg or seafood pho.

I have become addicted to the Pho, including the chicken pho made exclusively with very tasty and not overcooked dark meat, at Tien Giang, ( 4925 North Broadway tel: 773-275-4928 closed on Thursday). The broth is very aromatic. I like the nice and cheerful family atmosphere there.
I also think that the Pho at Hoanh Long ( 6144 N. Lincoln Avenue tel: 773-583-7770) is still one of the 3 best in the city.

I agree with you there. Mostly due to its location, that place is relatively unknown. It would be mobbed if it were on or near Argyle.

We ended up going to Pho 888 and it was delicious. The boyfriend has now embraced my love for Pho (which is good because I eat it often enough). I think Pho 888 might be the new place to go. Thanks for the other recs. They are now bookmarked.
