Five are meeting for a drink and food before DePaul/ND. Good burger, sandwiches, fried food and col ones. Thank you

Sounds like the Ram would fit the bill. They do a very good burger, decent house brews and it's only a 5-minute drive from the arena. It's on the north side of Higgins, just west of River Road. Also note that when going to the game, avoid driving on River Rd. north of Higgins because of the casino construction.

    I'll add Shoeless Joe's - http://www.shoelessjoesrosemont.com/ - to the list.

The food at Shoeless Joe's is pretty average quality bar food, though they do have a large menu. Decent beer list though, and they are the closest option for what you're looking for by far, just a few blocks south on Mannheim.

Also in the area: Romano's for thin crust pizza (Higgins, b/w River and Manheim), Chili's, Buona and Steak & Shake (all in the strip mall across the street from the arena), Harry Caray's (Manheim & River).

If I was going for burgers and beer, I'd choose the Ram . . . not a big fan of the burgers at Shoeless Joe's and Ram brews some pretty decent beers. Also, Ram and Shoeless Joe's are only a minute apart - Shoeless Joe's is at Manheim/River, Ram is just east of there, b/w River and Manheim.

I work half the time in Rosemont and have been to pretty much everything in the area for lunch and dinner :) Your best bet is probably Harry Caray's. Shoeless Joes is fine. I can't stand RAM as I don't like their beer and the food is pretty sub-par.

If you're going to be up here from 4-6pm, a great option would be McCormick & Schmick's Happy Hour at the Bar.

Thanks for the suggestions. I would be up for an Edison Park/Norridge neighborhood bar. What about Cuzzins Looks like the same menu as Danny's over there by Melrose.

The burger at Gibson's is a favorite of mine and at $9.75 with fries a decent deal.

Been a long time, but when I worked in the area I always enjoyed the Beacon Tap. Nice local joint with a good selection of tasty bar food.

The Snuggery or Morettis in Edison Park sounds like it would fit the bill for good burgers, fried foods and beers. However, the suggestion of the Gibsons burger sounds really tempting.

I would stay away from the Caragh for food. Decent bar, average at best food.

Cuzzins is owned by the same people as Danny's and the food is just as good - it's on Oakton just west of River.

As for differing opinions on the Ram, I should note that while I am not a fan of their dinner entrees, their sandwiches are very safe orders and pretty good, particularly the burgers and housemade chips. I also appreciate the relatively loose patties and ability to deliver a medium rare burger as requested. But to each his own.

Yes - brain cramp - Manheim and River don't intersect.

Anything new in the area? Do not need to be right next to arena. Small place in Edison or Franklin Park would be fine.

    Thanks

Try Smoked on Rose or HopScoth Bar both in Franklin Park.

I know you didn't mention pizza, but if you're considering Edison Park, then try the new Armand's for their simple thin crust cheese and sausage. I don't like pizza by the slice anywhere, but their regular thin crust, cut into squares with sausage is excellent. And their sausage is homemade, too. After that, you can head next door to the Firewater for a couple cold ones, and whatever sports you want to watch on t.v. before the DePaul/ND game. Firewater has become a great spot to watch a game and have a couple cold ones in the neighborhood. And no I don't work for Armand's, and I don't know anybody at Armand's.

There is a new (2 year old ) craft beer and whiskey Bar that has great food.

Hopscotch Beer and Whiskey Bar, 9743 Franklin Avenue, Franklin Park...several blocks east of Mannheim Road...across from Metra Train Station.

It is casual, laid back...great hamburgers with 40 plus toppings and over 100 craft beers and 25 on tap.. plus over 100 whiskies.

If it's before the game/event, why not Boston Seafood? Granted, I was there recently on a Sat night and it was a complete zoo, but what the hey. Outstanding food, byo tolerant and now also selling of beer and wine. I've come to realize that you approach Boston Seafood the same way experts say to pack. Decide what to order and then get half.
